No one is going to see this, and I'll probably ask again at the normal time when more people can see it.

Going to a potluck/pitch-in this weekend. I said I'd bring a fruit salad. Is it more cost efficient or easier to buy one from the grocery store or just make it myself?

Depends. How many grocery stores do you have access to, where do you live? I live in southern California so fruit is pretty cheap and prepared fruit salad is pricey, but it's high summer so it's stone fruit, melon, and berry season in the whole northern hemisphere. I happen to think they make a nicer fruit salad than the sad orange segment, grape, apple, and cantaloupe mess that sometimes ends up in ready made stuff. And unless you're, I dunno, pitting cherries without a cherry pitter or using a melon baller or something, it doesn't take that long. Good luck.

Thank you kindly anon for replying! I do hope you get to see my response.

I actually have a lot of grocery stores to choose from, standard to the speciality kind. In fact I think in about a 10 mile radius, I have a choice of about 9-10, not counting the multiple locations for one store. Wow I never realized that.

I have not thought about the cost of the fruit and you are absolutely correct to make me think of it! I'm in the midwest and we're just getting into the start of melon season, blueberries are strong right now. I will do that when I'm at the store, compare the cost of the fruit from ready made to buy on my own and put together.

Thank you!
