Yeah, I think it's important to understand it as a general challenge to how we talk about masculinity. It's not a question of politeness to trans or queer people.

I do think it's frustrating how much we conflate things that are outside the cis/straight/patriarchal hegemonic default, and things that are queer. Because those are distinct categories. And something that's been frustrating for me in my life is trying to figure out ways to act and spaces to inhabit that don't fall into those hegemonic narratives, without feeling like Im intruding on queer spaces and modes of existence that are not for me.

yeah, good point. it's counter-productive and unkind to equal the alternative to kyriarchie with queerness and then gatekeep it for that reason.
