I don't know if he's still popular but I never liked comic!Wolverine much.

I'm also very meh on Jean/Scott and Jean/Logan as well these days, they can both leave her alone tbh.

I'm also pretty meh on Lydia from Shadowhunters(she's okay but I do not get fandom's insistence that she's the best thing ever, I like Clary and Isabelle way more if we're talking about the ladies on the show tbh). I'm also meh on Jace too but I like his relationships with other characters, by himself I'm just like w/e.

I'm a Jean/not dying every 5 years fan mostly these days, but hey Jean/Warren is at least something I've not seen much so it's got the something different factor there for me.

Wolverine will never not be popular lol. I'm pretty sure he's some people's sole reason to read/watch X-Men.

This is very true. Hell I liked him when I was a kid, because swords literally come out of his hands how cool is that?? But I've grown less and less fond of him over the years.

And tbh making the original X-Men movies all about Wolverine didn't help towards my growing iffyness on his character.

There's also just not that much to like about him other than the ~cool~ and ~gruff~ factors. He doesn't really do anything redeeming. A lot of his story arcs are just about various flavours of manpain...

Not a lot of nuance to be had.

I also find he works much better a supporting character than a lead, he just doesn't have enough to him to really carry things on his own. At least imo anyway.

No, you're 100% correct. He wasn't ever meant to be the focus, imo. Then a bunch of people latched onto him because... idk cool factor? and then everyone had to compensate by trying to shove more of a backstory onto him.

Unfortunately that doesn't make his core character more complex, so you're right. It doesn't work.
