Both those characters are weird cases because there's an extreme, over-the-topness and one-ideal-this-month-different-ideal-next-month characterization that normally doesn't happen in characters meant to be soap-boxing or/and aggressively self-righteous. I hated both and assumed sexism first off, fell out of both fandoms, waited a few years, revisited the source material, and was able to make sure it was actually just godawful flip flopping by the writers using the characters more than most to back their writing out of plot corners, so much so that it often negated or regressed already flimsy development.

It's actually fascinating how much Cameron and Sara aren't characters, just loudest voice tropes.
