I had a friend in high school who, in addition to seeing the movies, had only ever read Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

(Oh, and she conflates homosexuality with pedophilia because the post-text reveal that Dumbledore is gay is something she commented on saying it made her uncomfortable that he's around Harry as a young child.)

Idk about snobbiness, her business is her business, but I personally don't understand how you can just pick up a book in a series starting with 6. Like, what is the appeal of doing that, even? (IIRC, I think she said that, having seen the movies, she picked up 6 and 7 and read them before those movies were released, but I still...it doesn't really make sense to me.)
