I'm listening to the 1981 BBC Radio dramatization. Last listened to it several years ago. I always thought it was good, but I'm currently bowled over by just how good it is. It misses out Tom Bombadil, but that's allowable, I suppose, considering how much trouble JRRT had fitting TB into the story. But the rest of it is just about perfect.
