Dumbledore tbh. I mean, yeah, he did a lot of highly questionable things in his gambit to defeat Voldemort, but you'd think from the fandom that he was sitting around twirling his mustache and just doing it all for lols and was omniscient and could have invented some easy alternate solution out of thin air (the "why did he give Harry to the Dursleys" thing especially -- you'd think it wasn't explained explicitly at least three times during the books why Harry had to go to the Dursleys).

Yes. He was complicated and flawed. But evil!Dumbledore bothers me. Putting Harry with the Dursleys was the best option available.

I'm not into Evil!dore, but honestly? Putting Harry with the Dursleys may have been necessary, but putting Harry with the Dursleys and either regularly checking in on him and/or calling children's services when it became obvious that he was being abused would have been the best option. One of Dumbledore's major flaws was his tendency to focus too much on the forest and mostly ignore the trees.

Yeah, I agree. He was, at the end of the day, a good man, not an asshole, even if he accidentally hurt people he cared about.

I think he tried to be a good man.

He still let things slip and manipulated an abused kid to achieve his own ends, preparing a kid to be a virtual sacrifice for the good of all.
