Molly Weasley. I don't even actually like her, but I still hate the bashing.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? This is news to me. That woman rates an 11 on a 1 to 10 badass mom-o-meter.

Seconding this. Whenever she's brought up in discussions people get SUPER mean to anyone who dares to say anything against The Greatest Mother Of All Time.

It happens. I've seen fics where she's in cahoots with Ginny to trap Harry into marriage, some where she's manipulated Harry into a connection with the Weasley family for personal gain along with Ron and sometimes at Dumbledore's suggestion, and some other things I don't even remember.

If I recall there was some Molly bashing pre DH cause Molly didn't get along with Hermione sometimes (like in Goblet of Fire) and people think that means you have to pick a side

She was kind of an ass to Hermione in GoF, but see: character flaws. She is not a terrible person.

Man how do people even enjoy media if any character making a mistake or showing a flaw causes them to be immediately awful and irredeemable...

From my experience? It's not an issue until said character, in some way or another, could be in the way of their OTP or if they're mean to their woobie-of-choice.

I definitely think those are major factors when it comes to people taking issues with characters, yeah

Yeah, I got the impression that everyone loved her but I'm not in the HP fandom so I don't know what general consensus on her was like.

Generally people who hate the Weasley family hate her. On some sites I remember seeing her called abusive even.

For reasons like, "forgot what kind of sandwich was" to "scolding him for complaining about his Yule Ball gown." And host of other minor things I don't remember. Mostly just not being fucking perfect.

(I like her, and also, she's the character who is always given as an example of my Meyers-Briggs type lol)

(I didn't know people bashed her. She's awesome)

She seemed a little overbearing towards Ron to me. And I didn't like the way she talked to Sirius about his godson who he's in charge of, not Molly. There were just a lot of little things about her too that just bugged me. But I get why people love her.

And yes, there is a lot of bashing of her (going along often with Ron/Ginny/Dumbledore bashing).
