Re: People Who Claim They are Right about Things They Know Nothing About

I can think of a certain named user, but I'm going to go ahead and say my parents are like this, especially my dad. My dad would say the stupidest shit imaginable, then double down when called on it. He once tried to argue that the Republican Party was the civil rights party in the 60s. I told him about southern strategy and he flat out refused to believe me.

"These are undeniable facts, dad, this is reality!"
"just because it's reality doesn't make it true"

(phone conversation didn't last long after that)

Oh god my dad is like that too! If you show him factual reasons why he's wrong, he will inform you that 'it's just his opinion.' Because of course, opinions are not capable of being factually incorrect and god forbid he ever change his mind (While informing me how I'm so stubborn and can never admit when I'm wrong.).

My dad's not even that old, I'm the product of teen pregnancy.

Yeah, my dad could be infuriating like that.

I remember one time I showed up in my old Cincinnati State hoodie and he started a huge fight with me because he was trying to insist I shouldn't wear it to University of Cincinnati like it was some Crips vs. Bloods shit. Massive argument because I didn't think it was a big deal and he was just blowing something out of proportion because his idea of how society worked was 60s vintage.

I miss him :(

Yikes. I used to wear another university's hoodies around campus all the time and so did other people. Nobody actually cared outside of sports events which I (obviously) avoided

In high school during football season, my sister would purposefully wear the opposing team's colors and sit on the home side. No one cared.
