ayrt um yeah, as someone who has been through both, I'll take the emotional abuse over the broken bones and immediate threat of death, please.

I fail to see how that makes equating them "gross."

Because emotional abuse sucks and messes you up. Physical abuse can literally involve your own murder, and if you think physical abuse doesn't inherently include emotional abuse, you are seriously deluded. Physical abuse is more deadly than emotional abuse, period, and considering what nonsense people will claim is emotionally abusive, fuck yes am I offended when someone equates their mother yelling at them to me getting strangled.

I'm sorry you experienced that, anon.

As someone who has also been through both, for me it's the other way around. I'd take bruises and broken bones over wanting to off myself because of the emotional abuse I suffered.
But I guess it's always a matter of what is more likely to kill you first. That one's usually the worse abuse for each individual person.

The only reason I would personally "prefer" physical abuse is because with that, you actually have physical injuries to show as evidence. Emotional abuse is much harder to prove and people tend to believe "oh it's not as bad (as physical abuse)" until you actually do something drastic to yourself. And even then, you apparently did it to yourself.

That said, physical and emotional abuse are nowhere near mutually exclusive.
