As someone who has also been through both, for me it's the other way around. I'd take bruises and broken bones over wanting to off myself because of the emotional abuse I suffered.
But I guess it's always a matter of what is more likely to kill you first. That one's usually the worse abuse for each individual person.

The only reason I would personally "prefer" physical abuse is because with that, you actually have physical injuries to show as evidence. Emotional abuse is much harder to prove and people tend to believe "oh it's not as bad (as physical abuse)" until you actually do something drastic to yourself. And even then, you apparently did it to yourself.

That said, physical and emotional abuse are nowhere near mutually exclusive.
