Silmarillion Ships
Sauron/Celebrimbor is my second ship. What I love about them is the creepiness of it. Celebrimbor is completely in love with Annatar who he has no idea is actually Sauron. And Sauron, for his part, develops some affection in spite of the fact that it started out as just about getting what he wanted. At least, that's the way I ship them. I love tragedy. They end so badly, but that only makes them more interesting.
Maedhros/Fingon is another ship I enjoy, though not quite as much. I think what interests me is, again, the tragedy of it all. Cousins who are very good friends, then everything goes down, Fingon has no idea at first that Maedhros didn't actually burn any of the ships. Then Maedhros ends up in Angband. Fingon rescues him. They are together again, but things can't be the same because Maedhros is so damaged. Fingon eventually becomes king, Fingon dies horribly. Maedhros is left alone. Beautiful tragedy.
Galadriel/Celeborn is adorable. I love that they are so different and yet fall in love. I love that they are together so long, even through periods of separation, and their love for each other never dies. I love that they are both strong, complex people with flaws.
Maedros/Maglor is something I've recently started to ship. Interesting to me because of how unhealthy it is. But they are both so lonely and only have each other. Fingon is dead. Maedhros is still so damaged from his time in Angband. Exploring what sort of dynamic could happen between them is interesting to me.
Celebrimbor/Narvi is another recent ship of mine. Their friendship is adorable. And I like the idea of them being in love in spite of their cultural differences. Celebrimbor deserves some happiness, and maybe he got it for a little while with Narvi.
Re: Silmarillion Ships
I only mildly ship Maedhros/Fingon in a "It happened in the past but one is dead and/or in Valinor now" way.
Celebrimbor/Durin III is probably a big background ship for me, but it comes with problems involving them not actually being destined soulmates and Durin's dwarven partner not trusting Celebrimbor.
Boromir/Kíli originated from a fanfic and continued in RP. Can I also mention that in both fic and RP Kíli is Durin VII? Because it means he also has something of a past history with Celebrimbor (who isn't dead).
There's few canon ships I like in a passive way (that is to say, if they get mentioned, I want them together), like Faramir/Eowyn, and Aragorn/Arwen. I think the latter has more of point for me because back in my early LotR days I shipped Aragorn with Boromir, and then later Legolas.
