Cycling comes behind pogo sticks and space hoppers as a form of transportation. Like it or not, our infrastructure is based around cars. That isn't going to change, not even as we move towards electric autonomous fleets. Hell, that would be the most efficient form of transportation ever. And we'd never have got it without getting everyone into cars. Cycling is for luddites who hate the future.

Holy shit you sound privileged and naive.

I used a bicycle as transportation because it was cheaper, and more efficient (driving in my city is expensive and difficult, and impossible to park), and eco-friendly. Cycling is, gods willing, the transportation OF the future, when people realize they can move about just fine with cars.

Why do you want people to be forced to cycle instead of traveling in comfort?

The environment? People living healthier lifestyles? Reduce traffic congestion?

I don't want to "force" anyone to do anything. People making the choice to bike instead of drive, though, is an excellent decision in virtually every respect.

You must live somewhere with a really nice climate and no disabled people.

What in the world is wrong with you, when you interpret the words I've said as "ban cars forever and fuck disabled people!"?

By the way, you remain incredibly privileged. When the weather's bad, I take public transportation.

I hope you're trolling. Cars are always going to be far more energy-intensive and materials-intensive than cycling.

And cycling isn't just for rich people, not by a long way.
