What is a great compliment you have received?
(Anonymous) 2016-07-25 11:26 pm (UTC)(link)Mine is, "Girl, there's nothing wrong with you a shower won't fix." It was just the perfect thing to say to me at that moment.

(Anonymous) 2016-07-25 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)First one was in middle school. We had to write a story for our exam using a particular narrative technique. A few days (?) later, my teacher stopped me in the middle of the hall in front of everyone to tell me that my story was the best thing he'd ever read and since it was also grammatically flawless, he had wanted to give it a perfect score. I freaking adored that teacher and was pretty proud of my writing even then, so that compliment, in front of loads of people...Made my day.
Second one was more recent. The context is weird and I'm not sure if it's relevant, but basically my brother told me I had 'never been very sensitive to peer pressure' (in general, but especially compared to him, I think). As I said, I'm not sure he was trying to give me a compliment, but I loved hearing that.

The school we worked at was brand new, so there were a few Occupational Health & Safety issues that we had write letters to various board/building company officials about--I was the secretary for our OH&S committee. After one of the letters I wrote, she said, "You write wicked letters." Pause. "And I mean that in a good way!" It was the second part that killed me--it still makes me laugh.

And an unspoken one was during a time I was practising with a friend for a music event with a small band (for church, which was weird because I'm not religious but I did it as a favour for my music teacher). We were supposed to share a song and I had the first verse+chorus and when it was her turn, my friend didn't start singing. Turns out she completely forgot abour her part because she thought my part had been so beautiful. That was a great feeling.
