Pricey yarn is nice and feels soft, but dirt-cheap Red Heart and generic brands soften in the wash and work just as well, at least from my experience.

Generic sodas are just as good as regular sodas, sometimes better.

Red heart is great for long term blankets. My grandmother crocheted me so many blankets from them when I was a child and I still have them and they look and feel great.

Red Heart can sometimes feel like crap before you wash it, but it softens up so nicely and the colors are great! And softer, more expensive yarns tend to be more difficult for me to work with.

I've been drinking Kroger brand zero-calorie cola for ages now and it's way cheaper than Coke Zero and tastes slightly better too.

What I like best is that I love fruit flavored sodas, and generic brands tend to come in more flavors.
