WOW that is a big text-heavy secret.

I've read a few volumes of One Punch Man because a bunch of my friends are really into it, and... I just don't get it. :( I feel bad because I want to like it, I love cyborg/robot stories, but I feel like I'm missing something important! Someone fill me in?

(And yet I find myself liking Puri Puri Prisoner even though he's obviously supposed to be a pretty nasty stereotype.)

It's pretty much intended to be a parody of superhero comics, in particular the kind that appear in shonen magazines but there's a surprising amount of overlap with western comics.

Basically think of it as a send-up of the genre that gave us Dragonball Z.

I agree that he doesn't seem like a promiscuous or overly sexual person, probably more like depressed.

but I wonder why you don't include "being in denial/in the closet" in this, or at least the possibility of romantic attraction to males instead of "making an exception for Genos".
to not out himself would be the path of least resistance, which is very much like Saitama.

I am definitely with you on this. I have found some (not a ton, but some) COMPLETELY AWESOME fic that deals with exactly this, him never having been into a dude before - and being honest, not even that many ladies - but with Genos it's just ~different~ somehow. The hesitation and conflicted feelings leading into him actually going for it 1000% made the eventual porn so much better!

Those are a lot of words, but since you put in so much effort, OP, I read the whole thing. For what it's worth, I agree - I ship Saitama/Genos like crazy, but I don't understand fic where Saitama was at any point a cockhungry playboy.

OP, this is just about any character ever. I so hate that trope! I get that it can be some sort of trauma and inner phobia that the character can sleep with same gender constantly and not acknowledge it properly but hot damn, write about it! Sure, it is fun to get different interpretations where they hit you in the face but after 100th time you go 'really?' and to mention someone popular I seen it with (the dick hungry trope) - Dean Winchester and yeah, can be written as gay believably.

Unless it is PWP and it is a kink. Yep. We all have strange ones.
