WOW that is a big text-heavy secret.

I've read a few volumes of One Punch Man because a bunch of my friends are really into it, and... I just don't get it. :( I feel bad because I want to like it, I love cyborg/robot stories, but I feel like I'm missing something important! Someone fill me in?

(And yet I find myself liking Puri Puri Prisoner even though he's obviously supposed to be a pretty nasty stereotype.)

It's pretty much intended to be a parody of superhero comics, in particular the kind that appear in shonen magazines but there's a surprising amount of overlap with western comics.

Basically think of it as a send-up of the genre that gave us Dragonball Z.
