I am so sick of my friends starting political discussions, and then getting mad at me for responding.

Like, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you just wanted me to go "oh I totes agree with you.'

(What's funny is often, I'm not even disagreeing. I'm explaining why people think such and such. One time I was flat-out agreeing and still got in "trouble" because... reasons, I guess?)

What I hate is when I disagree with the specific argument a person is making and they assume I disagree with their entire worldview and am one of the enemy. If I hear something that doesn't make sense to me then I say so, I don't care if I agree with the larger point the person is trying to make. People don't seem to get that.

AYRT - I hate that so much too. Actually, maybe more, because at least when I really am disagreeing, it makes more sense. That actually just happened to me.

I don't think people do get that, honestly. You either agree or don't. In fairness, I do understand why sometimes people don't want to hear it, but... still.

I admit the only friend I've had do this to me was actually kind of a walking stereotype of a "SJW" -- bad haircut and all.

We stopped talking after she tried using me as a shield against people who called her out on a messed up comment that she'd made on my personal Facebook.

Get better friends.

(Out of curiosity, what are your friends' ages?)

You'd think early twenties, but mid twenties to mid thirties. One might even be in her late thirties.

Somehow that also doesn't surprise me. Election Derangement Syndrome is an epidemic this year.

Ahaha yeah. Because of this, I just don't respond to some friends' political discussions anymore, because they obviously just want an echo chamber.
