The message is "you have to face your bulllies," and that's true and good advice, but this also sounds like a HORRIBLE expression of it.

I think you're reading a little too much into it if you're thinking that's a literal command from her.

Actually, what I took from that anecdote is that yes, we live in challenging times, but we should face those challenges head-on instead of trying to play the blame game. It's about personal accountability. You screw up, you own it. We're all human. And yes, humans can be terrible. But humans can also be amazing.

Is America in a great place? No. But there are so many awful things in our past that we have overcome. People are resilient. So instead of feeding fear (as Trump seems to be hinging his campaign on), there is a focus on figuring out what can be done better.

Which is a healthier outlook, in my opinion.
