Does your school have counselors? Because it sounds like you really need one, both for the depression and to help you figure out what sort of load you're really equipped to handle.

Yes but they are very unhelpful with the depression - I have gone to them before. And as for the load, it doesn't matter, I have exactly one semester of credits I need left to graduate, and I need a way to earn money. Neither of these are negotiable.

I know uni counselors aren't always the best, but give them another try. They might be able to direct you to a clinic that can help you with depression. Just tell them what's going on.

Also, if working on campus is an option, apply for all the jobs you think you can do. Working on campus is usually low stress; they need workers who can sort things and carry mail back and forth, or if you find something in your major, you can help out in that department.

I'm not a counselor, but part of depression is thinking that you 'aren't' good enough. So it makes sense that you're feeling this way. Hang in there and try your on campus resources (even ask for a referral).

Unfortunately I really can't afford a clinic at the moment, and the last time I talked to them they basically told me that was all they could do at this point, was refer me. I need a job so I can afford groceries, I can't afford medical expenses.

and I want to get an on campus job, but most of what is open atm that I am eligible (I can't drive) is food service which I know everyone says is usually very stressful. The one I was looking at was a tour guide position for my department, but gf thinks I'm not sociable enough for that. I thought I could fake it, but maybe she's right. I'm not very sociable after all.

Any library jobs open? I worked in several different capacities in campus libraries in college it was pretty low-key, especially since I took Friday and Saturday evening shifts when the library was really dead. I had to reshelve books and things, but I also had time to sit at the circulation desk and study.

Not much right now, but I think they post job listings closer to the fall semester starting. I also heard they get a lot of applications usually (probably cause of what you mentioned) but it would be cool if I could get something like that. Idk. I am still feeling shitty about my prospects.

da

If you really want a foot in the door for a library job, volunteering helps. I started volunteering at a college library, which turned in getting hired a few weeks later when they had an opening.

Not that that helps you right now (sorry), but keep it in mind.

What kind of food service? I worked in my college's cafeteria for three years as the person who swiped meal cards. That's literally all I did. Other people pretty much just prepped salad stuff, replenished the salad bar and put stuff away/cleaned at the end of the night.

Seriously, actually go and look into these jobs. Don't just assume you can't do it because you don't think you can or because somebody else has made up their mind about what that job is or if you can do it.

If it helps I know there are foodservice jobs that don't involve interacting with the public. I was a dishwasher for a while on campus. Most of my co-workers were pretty chill. It was busy but not overwhelming.
