No, the opposite.

"Skin color shouldn't matter" is "controversial" like "gay marriage should be legal" is "controversial." Controversial doesn't mean wrong or bad, it just means it causes controversy.

You said "apparently it is controversial now" and I said no, it's been "controversial" for ages because people, sometimes the majority, have argued against it for ages.

Well I'm glad we're in agreement. Though I still can't believe we're in the 21st century and people are still being dicks to each other.
