TV SHOWS THAT YOU DON'T THINK WERE CANCELED TO EARLY

(Anonymous) 2016-07-31 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
What TV shows that everyone else wails about being canceled too early, that you think deserved it?

Selfie. The only good thing about the show was John Cho. The premise was weak, the writing was embarrassing, and Karen Gillan kind of proved that she doesn't really have any talent.

Was that the Rebel Wilson piece of shit show?

Not at all. It starred Karen Gillan, like OP said.

idk how much people whine about it but I know at least one person always going on about how Hannibal ended too soon, and I think it was just fine, thank you

firefly

and dollhouse could have been axed post season 1.

As someone who loves both shows (including Dollhouse s2), I agree 100%. I honestly think Joss Whedon is at his best when he's hinting at a huge universe and complex characters without actually, like, writing the whole story. I *love* Epitaph One for this reason--it's terribly made, literally pieced together from things he thought *might* be cool in a future season, and as a viewer you get to imagine what came between all the snippets we see. When I actually watched Season 2, I preferred the vague story I'd imagined to what he wrote.

Going on what I've seen of his plans, I'm actually glad that Firefly ended before we went down that route.

I'm still pissed about Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles getting canceled instead of Dollhouse. Especially since S2 was getting so good.

Arrested Development...I was actively annoyed when it was brought back, petty though that was.

Firefly should've been canceled midway through the first episode.

You could have ended Fresh Prince a season before and it would have been Fine. it didn't get too bad in later years though.

Batman: the Brave and the Bold. Not because it was bad, but because it was great, and the ending was one of my favorites in TV. I can't imagine a show handling a cancellation with more dignity and grace.

I agree. It was a great show and I'm happy that it went out on such a high note instead of getting cancelled after a dip in quality.

I've really come to appreciate a good solid END to a story, especially when it's one that's outside the creators' control. A lot of people flub even an ending they've planned and chosen; to stick the landing for one mandated from the outside is a credit to the creators' skill and planning!

Constantine. It was fine background noise, and I'd probably watch it if it does end up returning, but overall it was pretty meh.

I'm not about to make any friends with this, but: Twin Peaks.

After they were forced to reveal who killed Laura Palmer mid-season, the show just kind of...lost its point. Plus that awful love interest for Dale.

All-around nope. I'm really, really hoping the new season doesn't continue the pattern of suckage, because the first season is so brilliant.
