I mean, I admit to not being into OCs all the time... it depends on the fandom, and the creator. But a good OC is a lot of fun! I had no idea it was a thing people took that seriously.
Maybe it's because I also get really into original series posted online, or RPs, and things that straddle or blur the line between fanfic and original fic. Or because I have a terrible weakness for "wallpaper characters" who never get much development in canon? (I mean, really, how far a stretch is it from, I dunno, a story about Crabbe or Goyle to a story about an OC? Man, do y'all remember when Blaise Zabini became the fandom darling?)
So I find this whole passionate thread kinda interesting, if a bit odd.

HA, Blaise. I just read an amazing Blaise POV fic from Astolat. (Erosmancy) It was *fabulous*. And I think a 'wallpaper' story is definitely an OC story, particularly if they're a one-off in the series/story.
I find it really just kinda mean, especially when people act like a single OC has ruined the fic *and* ruined the author for them forever. Sheesh.
