Also, that money may not be FOR YOU.

I've had friends who their families just... never bought them anything. All the money went to the "favored" child, and the "unfavored" got only what the favored left behind or outgrew.

Me, I came from a family with money, but I knew that it was THEIRS. Not for me. Leaving them sent me crashing into homeless destitution, and you know what I used to comfort myself, during those horrible days? I would tell myself, "It could be worse. I could be WITH THEM." And I would feel a little less awful.

I'm economically free of them. But I'm NEVER going to be anywhere near the economic level I was a child. And I'm okay with that.
