I just....do not understand.

Though to be honest, I'm a 38-y-o cis woman who has never wanted children and finds the thought of sharing my corporeal shell with another life form pretty unnerving anyway, so I don't care to read about pregnancy and childbirth in fanfiction no matter *who* is involved. But mpreg is especially WTF to me.

I mean, cis men do not have a uterus, they don't develop a placenta...even if someone implanted an embryo in their abdomen, there is no organ to sustain its life, you know? You'd have to be writing in a hard sci-fi setting for it to begin to make any sense, and even then it's silly at best.

Sorry, I really don't like it.

They are just set in AUs. People also can't turn into wolves, that has never stopped fiction from having werewolves.

cis men [...] don't develop a placenta
yes they do, just like cis women, trans mans, trans women, whatever kind of people they'll grow up to be: when they're embryos. It's not the mother/carrier's body that makes the placenta, it's the embryo itself (so "clones won't have a bellybutton" doesn't make sense either). Inject an embryo anywhere in any kind of body and it will attach and grow its placenta.
Granted, you do it anywhere but inside an uterus it will be messy and dangerous and likely unsustainable and end badly, but the placenta will still exist.

Well I am also 38, cis and don't want children, but I can step away from my own mindset enough to imagine that characters might want it. They aren't me, I'm not them, they can have children.
