While I get where you're coming from--he's been hurling racial slurs at her since they were 12, and on top of that he's just a nasty kid who she doesn't like one BIT--the KKK analogy misses some of the..nuance is a strong word, but levels/layers of the blood drama in HP.

I also wouldn't judge people for shipping them if they acknowledged the fuckery. There's a difference between "these two people might have an entanglement which given their social positions and personal experiences would be really complex and potentially very intriguing" and "SOULMATES PERFECTION ONE ANOTHER'S TRUE BLISS"

A comparison that would be more fitting imo would be a guy brought up in the Westboro Baptist Church turning out to be gay.

Why is that more fitting? Draco is still a pureblood even if he starts changing.

It's not so much what he is but the whole baggage of prejudices coming with his upbringing. If you grow up in a family like this, I imagine it's a lot like growing up in a cult: lots of indoctrination up to a point where you don't even think about ever questioning the potentially outlandish beliefs you were taught.
I don't even ship this, but I imagine that for this ship to work, Draco would have to do a lot of changing his mindset, even his whole worldview. That's why I think my comparison fits.

Right, but it's not the fact that they're of different blood that's the problem? It's the ideology, so if he drops it that's significant.
