I'm trying to get ready to teach two new courses I have little qualification to teach in under a month and I'm really afraid I'm going to do a horrible job (and that I'm just fundamentally a terrible teacher). Also I'm on a minuscule grocery budget trying to make my money stretch till the end of the summer and I'm hungry dammit

I have been in your shoes. Just remember, you may not know enough to feel comfortable, but those students know far less than you do. And when you're planning the course work, you can always drop in lessons that require the students to work on answering questions, working in small groups, etc. I know how scary it can be, but you can do it (and you're probably a better teacher than you think you are -- the 'bad' ones are the ones who think they do know everything)!

I had an excellent teacher, who in class made us search for the answers ourselves for the questions she didn't know the answer to (or pretended she didn't, since she was basically a walking, breathing search engine who knew everything about everything).

So maybe you can make a teachable moment for situations you feel you don't know the answers to their questions?
