How is the OP ahead of their time? Is cute food more of a thing now? I hope so, because I like cute food.

Yes, from bento to pancakes, cute food's been a thing for a little while.

I guess I didn't know it wasn't a thing in 2008.

I wish I'd seen this secret back in the day. If only to ask OP about any sites for any recipes for things that I can modify into cute food art myself.

But it kind of depends on how far you want to go with it. People often get waaaay into bento and end up spending a lot of money on cute boxes, accessories, things like that. You don't have to do that, of course. A $3 tupperware container is enough to get started and most big box stores have various lunchboxes and insulated boxes that are, IMO, better suited to bento anyway.

I'm self conscious about my love of cute food too tbh! I really want to get into bento but I don't want to get called a weeb. Like, I don't even watch anime, I just like the cute food aspect.
