Butthurt much, anon?

(Anonymous) 2016-08-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you even understand what "butthurt" means? What it doesn't mean is "annoyed and grumpy".

(Anonymous) 2016-08-05 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
The anon's being all butthurt over the ~fake~ Pokemon players - look at how they're mocking people's pronunciation.

So, yeah, butthurt.

Pointing out the obvious there, dumdum.

I'm sorry they're bugging you about it. People really need to learn to just accept it when a friend doesn't like the thing they like.

But I think it's nice that there are people getting into Pokemon Go who never liked Pokemon before.

Huh. And here I am silencing my phone while i play in public places so that I'm not seen as "idiotic and pathetic" (literally what my sister said about the game.) Although I stand with the fact that I don't advertise playing Pokemon Go because I already look like a target, I don't want anything more adding to a perception of me being the kind of precious little girl that gets hassled under the name of supposedly flirting.

A target? Precious little girl? Hassled under supposed flirting?

I don't follow what any of that has to do with Go or how you reached those topics from it.

And screw your sister. If you want to play it, play it, and nuts to her and what she thinks, because she obviously doesn't think much.

I'm running into a lot of "You're playing a game for little children" from people who have no idea how impacted my generation was by Pokemon. I already look a good decade younger than I am, which means I'm often on the receiving end of unwelcome advances from creepers who think I'm a naive little girl. I literally got scolded yesterday by a complete stranger for doing something that, having reasoned it out as an adult, I did completely correctly (not that said person had time to be interested in listening to my reasoning, they just assumed I was being stupid). It's not the first time. So on the whole I don't like to add to anyone's perception of me being child-like.

What's so crazy about the 'game for little children' argument is that Go wasn't marketed primarily to little children in the first place. The original announcement commercial featured more adults than kids by some measure. It played on 90s nostalgia first and foremost.

Obviously they want kids to play it too, and there'd be nothing wrong with adults playing with it if it WERE marketed first and foremost to little kids, but the Pokemon Company is fully aware of the sway and popularity Pokemon has with millennials.

Screw 'em. Don't live by their uptight rules.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-05 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
I'm still enjoying the game but I get the annoyance with the players tbh. I've had multiple male fans decide they need to educate my fragile female mind on various pokemon-related things (including what evolves into what and one guy who started to give me a lecture on the various regions from the main games when he never played past Ruby). I've played every main game in the series and most of the spinoffs, I think I know how to fucking play pokemon but thanks for trying.

MTE. I play competitive Pokemon (wi-fi battles and Showdown) and people still assume things because I'm a girl. Buddy, if this game were anything like the actual games, your "powerhouse" team would get swept.

I quit playing Go because of issues with my tablet, but the only thing I miss is the actual catching of Pokemon. I didn't get much out of the player interaction (very small town, all the other people who play are just on the fad).

Are you sure that's the reason though? Have they said anything sexist or just considered you new? From the information you give it seems like you're jumping to conclusions.

It literally sounds like your problem is that people occasionally bring it up with you and *gasp* slightly mispronounce the names? You sound fun.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-05 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds to me like OP's problem is that they did play it, and quickly got bored of it. Now they're tired of people going on about it. I totally understand that.

Don't worry, OP. It's a fad. In a few month's time it will be something else people will be obsessing over.

No they sound petty. It's one thing to not enjoy something. It's another to 'hate people that play it' because heaven forbid they have fun with something you didn't enjoy and mispronounce names.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-05 06:21 am (UTC)(link)
They're the embodiment of STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-05 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
super petty imo

like, it hasn't even been out that long, yet? I get being aggravated when you can't get into the Big New Ubiquitous Thing but like....chill. the initial rush will settle and it won't be the only thing your friends talk about in a few more weeks. until then read a book or smth

People said that Pokémon itself was a fad that would be over in a few months, you know.
