[Pretty Little Liars]

It's a frustrating show. My roommate has started actually honest-to-god watching it and I want to like it but just like... Jesus.

Troian Bellisario is really pretty but she's not pretty enough for me to stay through all that.

She's really attractive, and her character is really intelligent too, which is a big draw for me actually, heh - even amid all the frustration.

Completely, completely agree.

I should have written "realizED" instead of "realizING", by the way.

(I'm assuming your the same OP as yesterday who had only watched Season 1.)

I think a some of it was not wanting to say bad things about the dead and some of it was that they had been manipulated and used by Alison so often that her behavior was just Alison to them. Plus Alison's disappearance and death were really traumatic and confusing for her friends and they were reluctant to talk to each other.

Emily loved Alison and Alison's rejection and mockery crushed her. I wouldn't be surprised if Emily didn't want to rehash that awful memory and instead blamed herself for making a move in the first place.

I felt the same way reading the books years ago.

Idk much about the show though, but yeah, Ali's a grade A asshole, even for a young teenager.

I kind of feel like that was the point? Besides Ali, the girls' relationships with each other are fairly healthy. But Ali ... boy. That was fucked up and I think the show did a good job of showing that, and showing how hard it was for them to even admit it (esp in early seasons). It can be very difficult to pin down emotional abuse and gaslighitng, and that was Ali's MO.
