Well, there is one easy solution. Let me open the refrigerator door for you.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-05 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Same as with Prof X, unless he is taken out of the picture or the bad guy has an anti mind control mcguffin he ruins the movie.

marvel's quicksilver was quicksilver. this guy is a half-assed original character and therefore may have any superpower. maybe he'll turn back time in the next movie and will heroically pass out.

I'm not sure about half-assed OC - isn't he just Speed? I mean, I avoid the movies because of their erasure of just about every interesting minority group (and women), but I saw a bunch of adverts with this guy in character, and it was pretty clearly a heterosexual 1970s Speed...

I agree. I think MCU has been smart with controlling their insanely OP characters. If they actually gave Scarlet Witch or really many of the characters their "true" powers there wouldn't be a movie.

I completely agree that Fox really screwed themselves with Quicksilver and they are always gonna have to find some excuse like injuring him or knocking him out to not completely break the story.

Aw, I loved that scene. It was great fun.

Same; Not fond of the movie as a whole, but I really enjoyed that scene.

I do like his scenes and think they're great fun but he is rather OP.

It's interesting that this is a complaint because people also said the MCU version should have been able to dodge that bullet.

The other option is to make Quicksilver too involved in his own thing to be there without a big incentive, but that may not fly after Apocalypse.

that scene was way too long.
I am also mad they are using Quicksilver as their speedster when they could be introducing Northstar in the movies

Do Fox have the rights to Northstar?

(Anonymous) 2016-08-06 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.
Fox has the rights to every single character that's ever been an X-man, X-man villain, or a 'Mutant'. Along with the Fantastic Four and their villains.

There's only a couple characters that are 'shared' like Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch.

Including Quicksilver in DoFP was a specific move to spite Marvel.

Is it that broad?

I'm pretty sure that the comic versions of Deathlok (well, one of the Deathloks) and Spider-Man were both employed by the Jean Grey School at one time. Maybe someone should tell Fox about that. XD

(Anonymous) 2016-08-06 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
They're not mutants. Therefore Fox doesn't have them.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-06 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
It is that broad.

And while they had been in the employ of the school, they were not X-men or under the X-men umbrella. They were essentially guest/co-stars.

+1

This scene is forever ruined for my but the bizzare tonal turnabout when we discover that Alex died in the meantime.
