Re: Booze Question: Stocking a Home Bar?

The biggest questions to ask yourself is who will be drinking it? Are you just making the bar for yourself or your friends?

For example, I drink no beer, but am picky about my vodka. I prefer Ketel One or Svedka, but pretty much avoid Absolut. But in my current bar? I have Kahlua, Captain Morgan spiced rum, a bottle of Bacardi, a bottle of peppermint schnapps, several bottles of wine, and I think there's a few other hidden bottles. Probably a bottle of Jack Daniels and maybe Jim Beam?

Get a decent shaker you like.

I know a lot of people prefer either Tanqueray or Seagrams for gin. Johnnie Walker is also a decent bottle of whiskey if you plan to have guests over. Again, think of what guests will drink and what you will drink and just have that for now.
