Yes THIS. I just commented to another anon about that. The Zutara shippers seemed majorly invested as Katara being some sort of weird "prize" that Zuko got to "win" because he was such a good boy now, he reformed himself! (All because of the love of a beautiful girl!)

The Kataangers were bad too, but as an outsider I felt they were, as I said in the other comment, more of a "benign" sort of immature.

As for the Reylo wars, what is the wank over them? Who is the opposing ship? Have any highlights? :D

Lol, noticed where I never said "the actual canon Zuko did this", but that "Zutara fans thought this".

I didn't misunderstand anything. But a whole lot of woobie-crazy Zutara shippers certainly seemed to think that the above absolutely happened.

The more self-aware fans even admit outright they had such a hard-on for the pairing because it hit exactly those tropes.

DA - FinnRey/SandStorm is the directly opposing ship. So there's the added weaponry of Reylo shippers being ~*RaCiSt*~ against Finn getting the girl.

There are a some people (I don't know how many; it might just be a super-loud minority) who define themselves as being "anti-Reylo" rather than "pro-whichever-other-ship."

I ship Stormpilot but I realize it's Never Gonna Happen, and I'm pretty ship-and-let-ship anyway.

Whenever I see weird sexist shit in fandom, it almost always is coming from a het shipper. Don't wanna generalize, but to me that's almost always the case. So in this instance, I can totally see someone saying or implying that.

I'm not super into the Star Wars fandom, but reylo fans personally annoy me because they're constantly victimizing themselves and overreacting whenever someone doesn't like their ship. After TFA came out, half of the Star Wars secrets were just reylo fans whining about how mean the big bad sjws were for not liking their ship and how Kylo will change and have the bestest best redemption arc ever, and if you disagree you're just a kink shaming ship hater!!
And lol that's just on F!S.

I don't hate villian/protagonist ships, and I have lots of unpopular ships so I know how annoying it can be to have one, but like...reylo fans just never shut the fuck up about it. Personally, it's annoying as hell.

In their defense, they get a lot of hate. The Celebration art showing featured a Reylo-ish piece (nothing explicit) and there was a ton of temper tantrums thrown over it. Like people who reblogged the link to the gallery got attacked for 'triggering' people with the reylo.

There was a big drama thing when a blog started a Kylux fandom event and then announced that only Reylo-free blogs would be allowed to join. So if you wanted to join you couldn't have ever reblogged anything Reylo related and had to prove you weren't a multishipper.

I suppose those are legitimate things to get angry about. Like I said, I don't dabble a bunch in the SW fandom so I probably missed all that, and none of the reylo secrets here ever mentioned it.

But most of the stuff I've seen reylo fans get upset over were extreamly tiny and/or obvious troll-bait jokes. I couldn't stop rolling my eyes after seeing a bunch of reylo fans scream and lose their minds over an obviously-written-by-a-troll five sentence fic of Rey throwing Kylo into a garbage can. Like...I don't doubt that they get shit. But they make such a big spectacle about it, I can't find myself to feel all that bad for them.

Also, some of them have a, "Kylo is just a misunderstood woobie!" attitude which I find dumb for various reasons.

SA - For a while there were also people who made fake accounts, insisted they were known people in the Lucasfilm storygroup like Pablo Hidalgo, and started harassing Reylo shippers saying how sick and disgusting they were. Which yes seems kind of ridiculously obvious trolling, but several anti blogs picked it up and kept up with the "See? The people in charge hate you and want you to leave fandom" narrative.

And this is just the things I've seen as someone who's NOT in TFA fandom, but I lurk in some other SW related fandoms.

It's not easy to say which came first, the OTT hate or the OTT victim complex. I personally saw the OTT hate first and I've actually been active in the fandom from the time the movie came out. And it was pretty damn disgraceful the way the haters were losing their shit about someone even mentioning the ship (and I say this as someone who really can't stand the ship either).

And those are mild, non-triggery things that have been done by anti-Reylo people. I've never been in a fandom with antis before. It's...not a pleasant experience. Ship what you want (or don't ship, that's fine too!), but don't crap on other people for shipping.

Well, I don't complain too much when I get ship hate on my blog, but then again I don't get a lot in general. I think the people who complained the most got tons of random anon troll messages which probably got annoying. At least, that's what I've heard people say. Ship wars in general are kinda silly, for some reason people identify through their choices and love being "right".

Being a reylo fan myself, I have seen many individuals in every ship fandom that can become nasty because they simply must be right about canonicity.

But keep in mind that anti-reylo people were saying things like, "You must have been an abuse victim in the past to ship Reylo." Ship wars have gotten weirder than ever, lol.

Reylo wank reached an all-time high (for me) when JJ Abrams revealed that the ashes in Kylo's room were ashes of his victims. One Reylo announced that it was the perfect present Kylo would give to Rey if someone tries to hurt her (because in their minds, he's super protective of her).

I'm also fond of a giant rant from a Reylo shipper accusing all Finn/Rey shippers of being SJWs and of the "bridal carry" being foreshadowing of their future love (funnily enough, they don't have much to say about Chewbacca carrying Finn in the exact same way at the end of the movie).

Also, I've never exactly seen a Zutarian says Katara was the perfect "prize" for Zuko, but I DID see one complain that Bryke had turned Katara into a "voiceless prize" for Aang. I'm pretty chill when it comes to fandom, but I have honestly NEVER been so furious when I read that. BRYKE didn't turn Katara into a "voiceless prize", but SHIPPERS sure as hell did when they flat-out ignored her character development, healing abilities and issues with her parents when they got butthurt about their ship not happening.
