Except...Zuko never killed his GOOD HEARTED father just because he wanted power. And Zuko had a father figure that was doing his utmost to teach him right. The only big thing Zuko did that could even be even REMOTELY similar to Kylo's thing, is that he turned on the Avatar. But he was already well on his way to redemption before then anyway. He just wanted is father to LOVE him.

Kylo just wanted power and to no longer feel attached to those he feels were a weakness.

Zuko is the far more nuanced character here that the general audience and shippers can actually relate to and feel sympathy for.

Kylo, as of right now? Hahaha, no. Not by a LONG shot.

SA

I'm not saying Zuko is analogous to Kylo (in fact I see red whenever that's implied), only that Zutarians seem to like Reylo for the same reasons (the redemption-by-pretty-girl narrative they've completely fabricated for themselves).

Zutara and Reylo fan here.

I like both pairings for a few simple reasons:

1. Heroine/Villain
2. Interesting interactions
3. Talented fanbase that creates great fanart/fanfic/meta

I have never seen the reason you listed in either fandom except as a joke.

Really? Because my entire experience of Zutara was that the fans assumed Zuko's redemption arc would be contingent on him falling in love with Katara, despite no evidence to back this up. When you talk of "interesting interactions", between Zuko/Katara, they were a juggernaut ship at the start of season three, at which point they had only had ONE scene together that could have been construed as even REMOTELY shippy.

Apart from their interaction in the caves, I was a little flummoxed by the ship considering the two of them had virtually nothing to do with each other up until that point.

(I'm a ship-and-let-ship person, so if it floats your boat, go for it - but this is definitely the pattern I've seen with two ships).

At least Zutara would have made more sense. And I did sorta ship them, though I was there mostly for the possibility of a Sokka/Toph thing. Hahaha :|

But Reylo just...does NOT make sense. At all. ESPECIALLY SINCE HE HAD HER STRAPPED TO A MACHINE THINGY OR WHATEVER AND TRIED TO MIND RAPE HER FOR INFORMATION. BAH
