For me, it was the fact that the update changed the app from being compatible with my phone to not-compatible.

So I get the fun. "You need to update to load the game! Update now?" with Ok as the only option. And then it takes me to the app page and "this app is not compatible with your device."

I like my phone. I'm not about to buy a new one just for Pokemon Go unless they do some serious bug fixes.

Man, that's harsh. :/ Maybe a future update will make the game compatible again? Idk if that's likely, but I wish on your behalf.

Have you looked into sideloading the file you need for the update? We had the same problem but were able to install the update manually.

I was able to install the update manually now, it loads and.... GPS not found. I've tried the fixes, but so far no dice. Maybe the next update will save me.

Do you leave your wifi on when running from cell? I found, when not connected to wifi, I still need it turned on to get GPS working for some reason...

(Anonymous) 2016-08-08 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it's on and connected to the home wifi. It's even supposed to have the option on to get gps info from the wifi if it can't get it itself and no luck.

I feel you. I can't use Pokémon Go at all anymore. Can't find my GPS, no matter what I do. I already tried all the tips online (except the 'download this program' ones, I find them sketchy) and I'm stuck.

That happened to me for a few days after I bought my new phone. I took into a Verizon store to have it looked at. The guy at the store did the same stuff I was doing and it...somehow worked. And has worked since. IDGI.

What kind of phone is it? Is it on the list of compatible phones for the game? Because if so, I'd get a refund for any money you've spent, that's bullshit.

It has always been "incompatible" with my device (despite working perfectly fine). Just download the APK file.
