I watch Grimm, and ship Nick/Monroe, and almost all the fic for them has bigger, growly Monroe going all alpha dominant on smaller, wide-eyed, pretty little Nick.

I don't see it. At all.

Nick's a Grimm, a total badass, and Monroe does anything he asks all the time. I'm convinced that Monroe's inner wolf sees Nick as his alpha, and therefore Monroe MUST be the bottom.

Are any of the top Monroe fics stories where Monroe is a service top? i.e. top physically, but submissive mentally

Not that I've found, though I could totally get into that. :)

I just think Monroe is very sweet-natured and kinda passive (unless someone he loves is threatened) and the way he usually interacts with Nick tells me he'd let Nick take control in bed as well. *shrugs*

It's frustrating that because he's this pretty big, 6 foot plus dude, and Nick is kinda tiny, most fans just assume that Monroe tops - characterization be damned.

I think the problem is more in that they think topping is automatically dominating and bottoming is automatically submission, when that's not the case.

"How are we doing this?"
"You're going to get over here and fuck me already."

I know right?

He's like the sweetest most cuddly pacifist gentle dude around... unless you mess with his people that he loves. That's the best thing about him. I don't see him going all GRRRR with Nick, he's too careful about CONTROLLING the wolf for that.

Instead, I see him finding some relief in surrendering that careful control to someone else for a while.
