(Anonymous) 2016-08-10 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)*I do like Final Fantasy, so yeah. FF has gotten incoherent too.
Re: OP
I am reading this document and I am SO FUCKING CONFUSED. I even though I understood a bit about Kingdom Hearts, since I watched my brother play through a chunk of the first game? But wat. WAAAAT.
Why is Kairi a princess? Is Sora part of a Holy Trinity? Riku is apparently a blimp now?
WHY IS EVERYONE WEARING BOARD SHORTS????
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 01:21 am (UTC)(link)Kingdom Hearts, the heart-shaped moon, is the place where all souls come from and return to. It's very pseudo-religious.
Most people in this setting have hearts (read: souls) composed mostly of light, with some darkness mixed in. "Princesses" are seven women in each generation who're born with hearts composed purely of light. Their unique souls make it possible for them to open the gate to Kingdom Hearts, but it requires all seven of them working together.
Kingdom Hearts has a thing for groups of three friends. This includes Sora-Donald-Goofy, Sora-Riku-Kairi, Ventus-Terra-Aqua, and Roxas-Axel-Xion.
Riku isn't the blimp, the final bad guy of the first game is. It's one of those monster transformations bad guys do when they wallow too much in darkness-based magic.
I don't even know.
Re: OP
Is there only one heart shaped moon, or multiple?
Does Blimp Man ever get to turn back, or is he... just a blimp now?
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 05:34 am (UTC)(link)At the point I've gotten to in the series, only one Kingdom Hearts is confirmed. However, there's a lot of talk about how darkness is necessary and makes up half of the universe. Kingdom Hearts is heavily associated with light, so I would not be surprised if there turned out to be a dark version of it.
The last I heard of Blimp Man, he tried to possess Riku and failed. I think that version of him is gone, but then another version of him shows up through time travel.
This is fun!
Re: OP
Wait, why can the Blimp possess people?
Re: OP
(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)The power of darkness can be used to possess people. Thing is, most people have hearts that consist primarily of light, which gives them a natural resistance to darkness-based possession. This means novice darkness-users like Riku have the worst of both worlds--they've already worn away their darkness resistance, but they haven't picked up the power and experience to fight master darkness-users on an equal footing. (It's pretty impressive on Riku's part that he's alive and unpossessed at this point, and he went through all manner of hell to get this far.)
