Re: Shingeki no Kyojin [SPOILERS]
(Anonymous) 2016-08-11 06:56 am (UTC)(link)So who was Kenny's liege? I mean, before he started working for the government? I thought the reason Kenny was such a monstrously efficient serial killer was that he had Ackerman powers combine with the fact that he was a self-serving psychopathic manchild who realized how badly the world had fucked him over. And then the government gave him serial killing job then he was a holy terror with that, and so on. Who was he serving then (besides himself)?
And I thought Levi "broke" when he was a kid. How else else are we supposed to believe that he was able to take down those guys in the street fight? Who was Levi's liege then? Kenny? Pfft, no. That's clearly not the relationship they had. And I thought that's what Kenny was trying to do with him in the first place: take care of him until his powers turned on and he could fend for himself, then abandon him.
Did I miss something? I don't think I did, but maybe? I dunno.
On top of this, when someone dies, they're not dead to the people they love right away. It usually takes a while for it to really sink in that they died. Even with the liege thing, it wouldn't have an immediate effect on Levi's powers. And either way, why didn't Miaksa's powers go away when she though Eren died? This is really stupid.
What gets me, though, is that Armin had a good chance of surviving until they got Reiner back. Trust me, I know. They both could have lived. This is just cheap frustration that thinks it's drama. But as long as Eren gets to see the ocean with his friends, we can all die happy, right?
(Sorry for the rant, but I really needed to bitch. There's more I need to rant about, but this has gone on for too long already.)
Re: Shingeki no Kyojin [SPOILERS]
I think Kenny's "liege" was supposed to be whatsisname, the guy he worked for (blanking atm). But like you say, it doesn't really fit in, because Kenny seemed to mostly be doing what he wanted. And like you say, we saw Levi's 'powers' when he was a kid, so just... what.
See, what gets me about the drama is ok, maybe they didn't think Armin would survive. But this could have been a really meaningful opportunity for communication and character development, but instead people shouted some stuff and then Levi had a flashback. It was so lazily done.
It's obvious Armin is Isayama's darling, though... and really, the way this series is going, I don't actually care much about them seeing the stupid ocean. It's such a minor issue right now. It would have been way braver to actually break up the whole "golden trio" thing.
....feel free to rant more if you want, I have a lot of annoyance at the current chapters.
