Our next door neighbour is a pretty nice woman with a ... complicated family life (read 'crowded, loud and sometimes violent'), who has a tendency to play this one Elvis album on repeat all night long whenever she's had an exceptionally stressful time of things. Which on the one hand I don't begrudge her, if anyone in the world needs a coping mechanism it is this woman, but on the other hand ...

Elvis. All night long. On repeat. It gets ... a bit grating at times. Especially when people need to be up in the morning.

Headphones! My neighbors would all hate me because I listen to my music very loudly and it's the same few songs or even one song over and over and over for days. But I have headphones, so they have no idea.

I don't understand why people like this just won't buy headphones. Then they could listen to their music all night long as loud as they wanted to.

Exactly. That's what I do. I know not everybody wants to hear the kind of music I like. On top of that, I translate sometimes, and I don't want to subject my neighbors to dialogue being repeated over and over ad nauseum.

Unfortunately, some people just don't seem to have common courtesy. If I lived in a separate building like a house? Fine. But even sturdy apartment walls can be thin (and you can't add soundproofing since it's not your property).

Oh God, you have my sympathy. That sounds unbelievably aggravating.

I had a similar neighbour, only she obsessively played the best hits of Abba. I used to like Abba... *glower*

I had a neighbor who used to play way too much Whitney Houston. I've always hated Whitney Houston.
