Well, spoilers, there were a few jokes about the online reactions when the characters did a scene about posting their ghost video to youtube for the first time.

I laughed at those though, and I didn't really take it as a meta comment.

Oh I guess I didn't take it that way. I thought it was a joke about Youtube comments in general. I mean even my dad was backing me up when I was telling my mom that the first rule of the internet is "don't read the comments". It's pretty common sentiment in general, so I didn't assume it was directed at the reaction to the movie's trailer specifically. That could just be me being oblivious though.

There were a few interviews that specifically mentioned the director changing the script because of the reaction to the trailer. I'm 90% sure it was that scene that got changed/added in response.
