I do this with all things now. It's a real problem.

Also, my standards are way too goddamn high, because even my subpar cooking is honestly still a lot of people's holy crap cooking (I realize that sounds arrogant, but that's what I've been told).

I've done this before too. One of my friends even commented before when I said something had come out perfectly that it's unusual for me to say that. There have been several times I was complaining that something didn't come out quite the way I wanted and the reaction was "what are you talking about?"
