I wish I lived in a cabin or static caravan in the middle of nowhere, I'm increasingly finding it difficult to interact with people face to face. I want to just fade into the woods.

Me too anon. I just hate being around people in general. But then when I'm isolated, I get really stressed and self destructive.

I'm already stressed and self-destructive, I can't see it making things that much worse.

This was me before I got my anxiety under control.

My doctor has suggested antidepressants both for my depression and anxiety. If you don't mind me asking, was it ADs that got your anxiety under control?

They definitely helped a lot. I am very happy with my medication.

It was also a shift in my thinking. I used to spend a lot of time trying to avoid being noticed and worrying about how I was coming across to other people. I did two things. I started reminding myself that people aren't all that interested in me because they're caught up in their own lives. Even if someone thinks I'm weird or something, they're going to forget about it before long, just like I do with random people I come across. The second thing is I started forcing myself to think about what exactly would happen if my fears were true. So someone notices something I did and thinks it was weird. What's the worst that will happen? They might say something. I can survive that. If I say something here that people have a problem with, they'll write nasty replies and it won't be pleasant, but it won't be devastating. Someone might take something I said the wrong way and decide I'm a bad person. Okay. Nothing I can do about that and it probably won't really affect me unless they start replying to every comment I make (and I guess we'd see how long this attitude held up if that happened). My reaction to most things that used to make me anxious is now just kind of "eh, I'll live".

I kind of rambled there but hopefully you get the idea.

I feel you, anon. My dream home is a cabin in the woods near a stream or lake, but my need for highspeed internet and money get in the way.
