oh yes, very principled of you.
You "judge movies for themselves" but your taking a stand against the movie that "deleted comments".
...wtf? who deleted comments? the PR people? what kind of simplistic bullshit is this??

The trailer that got hated on like hell was having comments on it deleted.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-13 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw a couple of the comments that got swept, and they were just flat out vile and abusive. I would be willing to bet the rest of the deleted comments were in the same vein, and people are just using the fact that there were comments deleted to insist that the majority of pre-release complaints were totally legit, promise. You're just not seeing it because there's an evil censorship conspiracy!

I've also seen several of the deleted comments and they were about things like the special effects being bad. Stuff like that was deleted.

Given the kind of hate that Leslie Jones got, and how YouTube behaves (And the comments that are STILL on that trailer) I am going to bet that the deleted comments were vile, actual hate-speech, and against YouTube TOS.

And I saw hate against the remake before we even saw a picture of the actresses in costume.

There are videos proving that legitimate criticism was being deleted in order to further Sony's fabricated views.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
Videos of people making loud whiny noises about the comments they totally posted that were totally deleted, really guys! does not constitute proof.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
You act as though people didn't start collecting evidence after the initial reports of comment deletion went out

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
Again, loud whining does not constitute evidence.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 07:15 am (UTC)(link)
Other than screenshots of comments that were deleted and the things people say, what proof would you want/think possible?

(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Screenshotting comments that were later deleted isn't "loud whining". Especially when it happened en masse.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Are there videos proving that the vile shit posted to Leslie's Twitter page was falsified too?

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Leslie getting twitter hate does invalidate the premise that legitimate criticism was deleted.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-15 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
As well it should.

and this is a POC woman so hopefully this legitimizes the fact sony did delete comments. :')

Ayrt

Huh. well I'm a little incredulous that suddenly anyone gives a shit about YouTube comments. But I'm looking at this thread and apparently people... do?

I think some people do care that it seems someone at Sony was deliberately trying to suppress any legitimate criticism of the trailer.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 08:14 am (UTC)(link)
People get just as upset at message boards doing the same thing, with any topic. Reddit is having major problems with censorship right now (and even worse in the past, iirc), and yes, a lot of people are mad and talking about it.

(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
They were deleting criticism on a medium everyone knows is shit for discussion on a channel owned and run by them to advertise their products?

I love YouTube and I hate corporations trying to control online communities but that is a strange hill to die on. If it was a third party channel I guess that would be skeevy? Only because their interests wouldn't be obvious.

I actually saw the movie last night! Funny! Didn't really work narratively but it wasn't terrible.
