Re: Non-fandom secrets
(Anonymous) 2016-08-14 09:55 am (UTC)(link)What your caseworker should be "concerned" about is that the instructors apparently cannot lead programs for adults with disabilities without demeaning the people they're supposed to serve by talking down to them.
(Parenthetically, this is one reason I've never lasted a month at Weight Watchers--I've yet to see a WW group leader who didn't sound like she was addressing third graders at a school assembly. It's like they think being fat means you're also childish and dimwitted. "The voice you use when you're trying to make a child excited about something"--that's exactly it.)
Re: Non-fandom secrets
I'm sorry you had a bad experience too. WW sounds so awkward to me already that the idea that the people running it don't even talk to you with respect is so awful.

Ugh. People can get ridiculous about health stuff. Full on denial, complaining that you're not trying hard enough, have you tried this natural supplement? It worked for so and so! The people who have the most to say about me being disabled are usually older women, with their own chronic health problems. The hypocrisy. :/
