And cars who ignore me (and could KILL ME) on the road are not? I do everything in my power when I have to bike on a sidewalk to do so in a safe manner. I go slow if there are people (which there rarely are at the times I bike to and from work) and give plenty of warning if I need to pass--and only pass when they turn/move/acknowledge they've heard me.

Sorry, it may be selfish, but I'm still not going to risk my life over maybe bumping into someone.
