I once applied and briefly interviewed for a retail job. I didn't hear back, so I called them (don't remember how long I waited) and was offered the job on the spot. I think the manager was just too busy to make a decision and I made it for her by showing her I wanted the job.

I'm not saying that's going to happen here, but do follow up politely at some point, just not quite yet.

Meanwhile, keep looking elsewhere. I landed my current job by applying for it while waiting to hear back about another job that I really wanted at the time. I was hired before I ever got word about the first job and I was the one to call them to say I was no longer available. I'm definitely glad I took the job I did. I really love the people I work with, it's exactly what I want to do, and I didn't have to move across the country on short notice.
