Aaay, OP, I agree with a lot of what you're saying here! I don't mind rape in fiction (and sometimes I like it!) but HTP is a whoooole other ballgame. And it's been my experience (which isn't a lot, admittedly) that HTP isn't too interested in the whole comfort aspect of hurt/comfort (although maybe this is changing, idk). I've tried to suss out by reading summaries which HTP tagged fics will be more in line with what I'll like, but I admit that can be difficult. I find a lot of HTP stuff super upsetting so often times it's not worth the effort.
