Yeah, I don't think the secret is misogynist but it does seem to be puzzled that people could like a book where the main characters, who in this case are women, are flawed people who don't always make good decisions. Whereas that's one of the things I liked about the book, esp the scientist character.

I agree with the post I am replying to in every respect. I liked the book lots, liked the characters fine despite their imperfections, and recommend the author in general, but not to the OP because the characters in the series he wrote as Mike Carey are also flawed.
