I don't delve in the fandom but do you have links by any chance? I remember there was wank for some fic (Dirty Laundry?) and some screaming "RACISM" or something along the lines. I also remember how fandom blew up over the Shiro and Pidge age thing.

Fandom blowing up over Shiro and Pidge got me. I'm a short geeky woman and I'll be the first to admit there was some serious appeal there to fic with them, especially since I love size difference.

But the flood of "My hawt spacedad" plus the wank and just NOPE.

Why must fans ruin everything?

Same heeeere. And don't get me started on how much I hate Space Dad™.

I just assume a lot of the most loud ones are really really young and just grew up with the tumblr culture of "if I perceive something as problematic then I have to call it out".

But yes, I'm not engaging with the fandom except for one or two times that I looked at tumblr tags/co threads.

I'd kind of be ok with Space Dad if they were talking about Coran, since everyone I've talked to who watched it and wasn't in fandom thought it was adorable how he was paternal towards Allura and the paladins. Just kind of, because I've grown to hate the cutesy fandom nicknames characters get.

The space dad thing would have been okay if people treated it as the joke it is instead of acting like it makes Shiro the other paladins' actual father figure. He's a guy in his twenties, not forties.

Anon are you secretly me? I love space dad Coran. Or space mom Coran I don't care.

And I'm on the same boat regarding fandom. I just can't take the tag seriously so I don't visit it, and the times I've seen stuff crossing my dash (back when I was more active on tumblr) it just wasn't my thing.
