My new fandom has no slash. I am unreasonably upset by this but can't tell anyone because none of my friends know I still read fanfic.

I don't know what the fandom is, but I consider it blessed if it has not been infected and infested with Slash-fic.

It's like being back in the 90s, when homophobia was still rife enough to make slash fic taboo. It's depressing how far we've backslid.

Not really. I have no problem with canon homosexuality and relationships, just keep that shipping crap out of the main fandom. Stop making shipping, slash, and H/C all that fandom is about and shaming newbie writers for trying to write gen instead of shippy fluff. It isn't mandatory to ship things, and it shouldn't be.

Writing slash is not synonymous with shaming gen writers.

Being disappointed that my reading preferences are not available has nothing to do with your issues.

And yet if a person expresses a desire for gen in most fandos right now, it is okay to shame them for that. If that is changing, then I'm not sad the shoe is on the other foot.

Ah the old an eye for an eye logic. Grow the hell up.

I see you don't actually have an answer then, good bye.

I'm not sure what fandom(s) you're in, but all of mine are full of people complaining about how there's not enough Gen for them to read.

I have literally never seen someone "shamed" for wanting to read/reading Gen.

da

what kind of hellish fandoms are you a part of?
I've never seen anyone shame someone for requesting or writing gen

that "shipping crap" happens in every fandom, be it het or slash
no-one's forcing you to look at it
